Help me learn to like wine
I decided it's time to be a grownup and learn how to like wine. That and I love wine glasses so I want to use mine.
I've never drank/never liked wine so what can you recommend that you think I'll like? Y'all know how picky I am
Re: Help me learn to like wine
It's not really wine, but at World Market, they have plum wine (Japanese, I believe). It's called Fuji for $7 a bottle. It tastes almondy (cake like) to me! So yum!
I'm not a wine expert though...I wish I loved it too!
I do, however, LOVE cheese!

I might like that! I like almond-y stuff, like Amaretto. Where is World Market?
My SIL loves Fuji wine. I think it's waaaay too sweet but you might like it, Belle! I recommend starting with Cavit Pinot Grigio:
It's a sweet, white wine and is very good. You can drink it alone or serve it with a chicken or fish dish. Chicken alfredo would be excellent.
Don't get discouraged if you taste it at first and don't like it! There are several other whites that you might like. Once you find one that you like, you'll work your way up to the drier reds. I found that learning to like wine was definitely something that I "grew" into.
I'd love to go wine shopping with you if you'd like.
(You too, joeysgirl!)
I second this! I bought a bottle the other day after trying to find the one we had at a restaurant. It's pretty strong and very sweet though. I also like arbor mist blackberry
I think I'd probably get my head chopped off for saying that to wine lovers. But I hate wine and those are the only two I've been able to stand so far.
I suggest ordering a glass when you go out to eat - tell the waiter and they can suggest something that goes with what you order. That way you'll get to try a variety without buying a whole bottle. We need to find a place that does wine tastings! Or go get together at the Wine Loft or something
It's by Mall of Louisiana, in that shopping area where the Best Buy is!
They have fun foreign candies too..I love that place!

Ooo that would be fun! Wine 101 from Shoe!

This is an excellent suggestion as well. I've found some of my fav wines like this!
Lima, they were doing this Wine Wednesdays thing downtown for a while. Not sure if that's still going on or not. I think the Grape does some type of wine tastings some time too.
LOL! There's no shame in Arbor Mist! I'll admit to partaking in it occasionally. It just takes some time to find a good wine that you like. But once you find it, you'll be so happy you did!
You have gotten some great advice. Also check our Marcello's, the do daily tastings. I also found them to be not pretentious and accessable, which when starting with wine is what you need.
