Exercise

I am trying to work out more, but I typically find exercise boring. I am looking for ways to change up what I do at the gym. What work outs work for you?

Re: Exercise

  • I am a class person- I have so much trouble motivating myself to do machines out on the floor. My favorite class is cardio bootcamp- it's never the same class twice-  even if you're not a class person, it could be worth checking out a class like that to get ideas to do on your own.

He uses pretty simple stuff- everything from jump ropes, stability balls, and I never knew there were so many variations on the dreaded push-up.

  • I just started doing a Pilates DVD at home (needed something to break up my eliptical work-outs at home) and I really like it so far.  I'm sure a lot of gyms have classes and I might try to take one at some point.  There are also studios that do Pilates if your gym doesn't offer it.  I know that most town Park/Rec departments have work-out classes that are pretty convenient for people who work during the week so maybe try one or two of those to see what styles you like.

  • I work out much better when my DH is home.  He gives me a bunch of exercises to do.  When he's gone, I like to take classes for weight training.

  • hey M! I have found that the classes are keeping me much more motivated this winter. In the spring, i'll run outside again.
  • I spin......I need classes and workout buddies to keep me motivated.
  • To keep me motivated I work out with my best friend and we mainly do all classes, kickbox, strength training, bootcamp, spinning.   the classes go so much faster than doing cardio machines and I feel I get a much better work out.
  • I mix it up constantly, plus going with Jer or meeting up with my friends helps too.

I take bodypump, teach spin, yoga, boxing, I lift on my own, I run on the treadmill sometimes, etc.

I like variety and not doing the same old routine each week.

  • I find I workout longer and harder when I'm with a friend.  I also try different machines and free weights depending on the day.  I'd like to go more often but my schedule has been so hectic lately.  I think the holidays are finally starting to die down and I'll get back into a more regular routine - hopefully the gym will be less crowded too.
  • I was running with DH (side by side treadmills at the gym) but KILLED my knee so I haven't been going for a while.  When my knee is better, I am going to try to mix up what I do more.  Also, and this is terrible to say, I work out where I can see my reflection, because the sight of my big butt jiggling as I run is motivation to keep going!  LOL!
