raw milk

Does anyone have any experience with raw milk? There's so much info for and against- and it's left me feeling a little confused/

Re: raw milk

  • It's just milk that hasn't been pasteurized. I refuse to believe that's magic, and I grew up on the stuff. I got sick all the time.

I wouldn't pay extra for it, that's for sure.

  • I get it through a herdshare for two reasons. One, it's the cheapest way for me to get organic grassfed milk. Two, it's better for making cheese than milk that's been pasteurized and homogenized. Another benefit is I get to know the farmer and feel good about buying locally.
  • We get it for 2 reasons:

    1.  It is cheaper than organic milk in the grocery

    2.  It is super-local

The fact that it is non-homogenized is nice.  I care more about that then whether it is pastuerized.  I can get non-homo'ed milk at the co-op but it is pricier.  The fact that it is super fresh is also nice.
