Good morning ladies. Is there a bad month to visit San Diego?

We normally go to Mexico in Feb but have thought about visiting San Diego this year. The last time I visited it was in July which is obviously warm enough but I wanted to check and see how it is out there in Jan-March. Warm enough to swim?

 Thanks ladies :)

Re: Good morning ladies. Is there a bad month to visit San Diego?

  • January is my favorite month in San Diego, however I think it is too cold to swim or lay out.  (Born and raised in So Cal so I'm a wimp when it comes to cold weather.)  This being said, it could be bright and sunny or it could be rainy.  You really never know.  If you are looking for a beach holiday I would probably put it off further than January and February.  I got married last year in January and most of our out of town guests were from Colorado.  They loved it here in January, so I guess it really just depends on what type of weather you are coming from/used to.

    That probably doesnt help much!

  • I agree with PP. Born and raised in San Diego make you a wimp LOL. But my cousin from Alaska LOVED IT. The other months were to hot for her.

  • Thanks ladies. I'll push for March at least :) I'm from WI but last time I went to San Diego i was cold (in July!) I think we have it more humid in WI. :)
  • January can get somewhat cold (high 40s) one day and then be 75 the next.  It's pretty random.  I believe that would be considered our rainy season, which is saying much since even the rainiest day here would be considered nothing for a girl from WI.

But there really is no bad time to visit San Diego!  I grew up in MN and would swim in Lake Superior on Halloween so I can do cold water just fine!

  • Same as pps... born and raised in SD, I am a complete wimp. I usually won't swim before July. :)
