I am also working at a summer camp this summer as the CIT director. One project I wanted to start with my campers is to maintain a garden and use some of the produce in the kitchen and donate some to local food banks. Does anyone know of a company that will donate seeds for this cause? I was going to start drying my organic produce seeds, but I want to have a lot of varieties for the campers (including perennial flowers to liven up the cabin areas). I'm willing to spend my own money on this project but I would love to not go broke on this project!
It IS a non-profit but I don't have access to the 501c3 EIN.
Re: f/u My Seed Post
Why don't you have access to the 501 paperwork? Can't you just explain why you need it and get a copy? I mean, I have one for my Dane rescue, they can't be all top secret!
My boss is working on getting it for me. We share it with the main Y, I believe (it's a YMCA camp) so it has to go through them. So I *could* get it, it'll just take some time and I want to get on this ASAP. I found a couple of sites that said it might take up to 3 months to get seeds. That's fine for now but in a couple of weeks that'll be too late and who knows when I'll get that number! I don't work at the camp right now (I'm seasonal) so they're in Wisconsin and I'm in CA... it's hard to get things done when you're this far away unless you do it yourself.
Oh, that's a good idea! I could put in a request on Craigslist for that. I didn't think of that one!
If you have any left over could you e-mail me? I'd love them, I'll even pay for shipping. jebuell(at)gmail(dot)com.
ooo ooo if i get my container garden going, i'll send you my extras, too!!!
