Food ideas for a baby shower with 50 guests?

A friend of mine is throwing a shower for a friend of hers for 50-ish guests on the invite list.  It will be in Spring so BBQ is an option.  Any ideas? TIA!

  • Low Country Boil, pulled pork bbq, clam bake, burgers and hotdogs, any of those come to mind.  Is it co-ed or just women?

It will be co-ed and I like your ideas already!

  • The most recent co-ed baby shower I attended, they did a couple different kinds of party subs from subway.  They had cut it (not sure if subway does this or if the hosts did this) in little pieces so you could try different kinds.  Condiments were served on the side.  They had 5 different salads (potato, pasta, bean, green and fruit).  i think that there were a few different kind of chips.  They served beer, soda and lemonade.  For desert there were two different kinds of cakes.

I think that the variety was key.  Everyone could find something that they liked or could eat.

GL!  Let us know how it turns out!

If it's co-ed, any of those would work.  If you were just having women, I would say that you could probably get away with doing something less hearty, but the guys will appreciate the protein.

I'm Southern, so I vote for the LCB with green salads and various cobblers.  You wouldn't break the bank since it's just potatoes, corn, sausage and shrimp (you can add crab legs and lobster if you want) and cobblers are cheap as well.
