Wan...

So I finally got around to making THE casserole. I think I did something wrong :-/ I followed your directions but it didn't turn out so yum for me. Crying

Wasn't bad but maybe I did too much beef not enough bacon. Or maybe not enough cream of mushroom- or too many green beans. Not sure- but the balance was off.

Sad times.

Is there a "trick" to it?

Re: Wan...

  • I wonder what happened.  Was it too watery?  Too thick?
  • i am so sad for you!  it's a really simple dish.

i usually dice about 4 slices of bacon, cook till crisp, and then add them to the browned, drained ground beef (1 pound).  i stir in the whole can of cream of mushroom soup without adding milk, and then toss in a couple of handfuls of frozen green beans.

did you add milk?  maybe that's where it went wrong.

  • Yea I did add milk but only a plash or two because I thought the "soup" was too dense and didn't cover the green beans like I wanted it to. But I just thought of something... duh.. the green beans were frozen so they let out more water too during the cooking process so maybe that's what it was. Tongue Tied

I'll give it another go in another week or so. Yes

  • aha, there you go!  i use frozen green beans too, but i don't add any other liquids.

i MIGHT also shake a few sprinkles of bacon salt on top of the tots.  maaaaaybe.

  • I made some tonight and it was SO yum! I used ground turkey because it was on sale, and I threw in chopped onion, mushrooms, and broccoli. MH LOVED it. Yes
