You really feel you need to lose 121 lbs? Just curious, what are you starting out at? 

What are you doing to lose the weight?

Can we be weightloss buddies? I want to lose 50 lbs.

  • psssst-I like sparkpeople.  It's a little feel-good, but the community is super motivating, and more like "feel better, eat better, do better" rather than..."be skinny, don't eat".

    Yes! Nola, PK, TT, and I will be WL buddies. Start today? I need to get in all water. I've had 1 cup of water today. ONE! :-/

  • Set yourself some "easy" goals and give yourself non-food rewards.  New movie you want?  Wait until you lose 4 pounds or whatever.  I have a hard time too. 

    SIL's wedding is awesome motivation.  Even though I'm not the star (yet).

  • I was gonna start last night, but didn't go walking like I planned (layed on the couch instead). So today is it, I'm starting.
  • Peg, I think it helps to have a work out buddy, esp in the beginning. Ask someone if they want they want to go walking with you.

  • I think I need to start exercising in the mornings. By the time I get home I need to cook, and then after cooking I eat, and then I'm full and don't want to exercise.

  • Honestly, it is said that it takes 21 days to form a habit, so plan out those 21 days, and by then you won't know what to do if you DON'T walk/swim/bike/play tennis, etc.

  • I've lost about 30 pounds in the last five months, and I've found that it's easier for me to focus on food OR exercise. I get overwhelmed and flustered if I try to plan out both. So I consciously eat healthy, but don't make it a focus of my day. Then I put forth effort when I exercise. And vice-versa. If I know I don't want to think about exercise, I focus on eating a really healthy meal. (It makes sense in my head, if not on here.)

    Also, small goals are a must for me. It's way easier to say that I want to lose five pounds in a month than it is to say that I want to lose 30 pounds period. 

  • That makes sense. I'm pretty set in my ways with food. I eat what I want, and if I crave something I don't deny myself. I do reason with myself about snacking at 9:30 though. Am I really hungry or just bored? Usually bored. I need to exercise, and get in all the water I should be having. I feel better when I'm doing those things, so it's pure laziness on my end not to. Plus, my leg swells when I don't drink enough water.

  • My 2 step-sisters walk a couple of times a week, not really at the best time for me but I need to work my schedule around it better. They also have zumba at my church once a week that I have been saying I'm gonna start for a year now. Its really just me so thats what I have to change. I don't eat that bad, just get NO exercise. I'm gonna try the more water thing too, I know that helps.

    I'm the same way with food.  I eat good most days (5 or 6) and then pig out for a few meals.  If I want McD's I eat it.  Just not every week or every day.

  • Oh - if you're hungry and you have access to it, drink milk. It'll coat your stomach and make you think you're full. One of my favorite tricks.
