DH and I are moving out of state...does anyone have moving company recommendations? I just want to get some quotes and see what our options are. TIA.
Re: Moving companies?
We used Mayflower when moving from NJ to FL and highly recommend them. Their prices may be a bit higher than others, but they have a great track record and we wanted to make sure our stuff arrived in one piece (everything was ok!).
We plan on using them when we make a move from FL to PA sometime in the future.
good luck! Where are you moving?
United Van Lines..... make sure with any company you protect yourself... check up on the company through the BBB and http://www.protectyourmove.gov/
We got a quote through the internet that we thought was a national company that just had a branch in a specific state, it wasn't. it was a compnay appearing as the national company that would take your info and then contracts out the move to a no name fly by night outfit. Anyway, we got screwed an never got our stuff. I can give you more info if you want. Just email me divabunny at juno dot com
*Interstate moves should be quoted by weight , not cubic footage. it is illegal for them to do by footage.
* Bill of laden must be itemized fully. They can't just write box and draw a line.
.......Just make sure you are familiar with what the paper works is required to have on it and the laws. Unfortunately, the law protects the mover rather than the person moving.
