Vegas Hotel Recs

I know I have asked beforem but I can't find the thread. Recommend your favorite places to stay in Vegas! Thanks!

Re: Vegas Hotel Recs

  • Loved the Wynn.  Next time I go I want to stay at Encore though.  I've also heard great things about Planet Hollywood, MGM Signature, CityCenter, and The Palms.

My friend had some valuables stolen from her room at NYNY so I'd avoid that place.

  • The Bellagio is totally worth the splurge and it's in the middle of everything. We've stayed there on our more recent trips.

When my brother goes to Vegas he usually needs to be in the Fremont area. He says the Golden Nugget is a real contender now. They've done a lot of remodeling and additions.

  • I like Cesars becuase it's fairly in the middle and HUGE. Very nice room.

We stayed at the Mirage last time and I would defiantly suggest get the upgraded room if it's free. It makes the bathroom much bigger.

City Center just opened and when I saw advertisements it looked really neat. I have no idea their pricing but its worth looking into. New hotels always like to give away stuff.

  • what's your budget?  will you be there during pool time (very important if you want to use the pool!)?

I like mandalay bay and THEhotel.  I haven't stayed at the wynn but have heard good things about it. if you want to go on the cheap, hooters (don't laugh!) is in a decent location and they renovated a few years ago.

hard rock is also fun, but that was more during my single days as the ratio of guys to girls is about 20:1. ;)

  • oh and check out the travel forums on fatwallet.com.  There's a Vegas hotel thread there that lists all the promo codes for all the hotels.  Let me know if you can't find it...

  • I really liked the MGM and would definitely pick to stay there again.  It was very nice and not as much as a 'splurge' as other hotels.  The location, however, was the best (IMO) of all the hotels.  We did so much walking, I was always thankful MGM was kind of in the 'middle' of it all.

I second the Bellagio!  We found a deal last time on one of vegas hotel websites but can't remember which one.

  • I loved the Rio. It is a bit cheaper since it is off strip, but they have really regular buses back and forth. All of their rooms are also suites.

  • We lived in Vegas prior to Austin. I highly recommend Planet Hollywood, the Venetian, Caesar's Palace, Mandalay Bay and The Hotel. Bellagio, Trump, Palazzo, Wynn, and Encore are very nice but probably a little pricier. You can get some great rates if you check out their twitter or facebook pages.
  • I second the MGM. We went for my bachelorette weekend. It was super nice and they run awesome specials from time to time.

  • Signature at MGM.  I'm weird about elevators and don't like to be in them with lots of other people so the big strip hotels are out for me.

I am DYING to stay at the Golden Nugget because I want to go through the aquarium water slide.  But I've only set foot in the place once and that was to play $5 blackjack.  No idea if the rooms are nice, it's downtown.

  • I've always wanted to stay at the Golden Nugget.  It just seems so gaudy and wonderful.

The Venetian was the best hotel experience I've ever had.  My boss got a really great deal at the Wynn last time he went.  He did priceline and got a Wynn room for $109 a night!  That was cheaper than Venetian.
