We bought our sofa and loveseat in March 2006 when we moved in together. Late 2009, we started having issues with the springs breaking in the sofa. Since the frame and springs have a lifetime warranty, we had the furniture store fix them.
The springs have broken 4 times since October. The furniture store is getting tired of dealing with us and we're tired of sending the sofa in for a week at a time to be repaired.
Well they've broken again. I called the store and they said we could either send the sofa back in for repair or we could take store credit for a percentage of what the set was worth brand new.
They basically said we bought a crappy set and they're not supposed to last 20 years. We never expected our set to last 20 years, but it hasn't even been 4 years.
We looked at furniture last night at a couple different stores and decided to take the credit and use it. We'll end up paying $200 out of pocket for the new stuff and we're just going to use it to get through the next 2-3 years until our car and student loans are paid. Then we'll be in a position to get a really nice set.
As much as we don't want to give this place any more money, we're tired of dealing with them and we're tired of sitting on a broken piece of furniture. When we buy in the future, we won't be going back to them.
Oh well. Yay for new stuff, right?
Re: PW: I think we're getting new furniture
YAY for new furniture!
I've told DH several times that I wish furniture were cheap and disposable so I could get new stuff all the time. I love new furniture.
