I am throwing a VDay themed brunch for my mom's birthday. I am combining the two.
We are going with a red and black damask theme, however, I am having trouble finding nice decor ideas. I would like them to be easy but still look really nice. The invites are off white, with a black damask trim, and a red ribbon.
Anyone have any suggestions? I'm really drawing a blank.

Re: Help. TIA
This is just an etsy search for damask, but you might have some luck here.

If you have pictures of her that you'd like to present, past birthdays, baby pictures, etc, you could buy cheap frames and some damask scrapbook paper. Create a mat for each picture with the scrapbook paper by cutting out rectangles/sqaures/other shapes with an X-Acto knife. If you by frames that are simply wooden, you can paint them the color red that you want to make them pop.
It will take a few tries to get the matting to look right, but once you get it I'm sure it'll look good.
And run the knife across the paper several times to get a decent and finished cut, instead of sawing through it on the first try.

Hmmm... could you fake a damask-like pattern with white doilies on a black table cloth under plates of food?
I like the idea of displaying photos of your mom. Something I like to do is take a digital photo of a photo (scanning can be such a pain) and then print the photo in black and white.
Target has some great little frames in the dollar spot right now.
Also, how about red roses in a white vase with a damask ribbon tied around it?
Another super simple decor item is a frames invitation. It sound so pretty, you might as well display it at the celebration.
