Robeez/Shoe questions for moms

I'm thinking of getting nephew these

as a shower gift because SIL said that she doesn't have much in way of footwear yet. But I was thinking of getting them for next winter and he'll be walking then. Has anyone had experience with these once the little ones are walking and whether or not they "work".

Re: Robeez/Shoe questions for moms

  • Will he be going to daycare?  We had Robeez for DS but once he started daycare they requested a hard soled shoe for walking on gravel, etc.  We had DS in Robeez all last summer for outside though, so maybe if you got the slippers/shoes instead of the boots in 6-12 months?

  • DD just got these for Christmas from my ILs.  I was going to return them, but ended up keeping them.  I would not personally let her walk outside in them as the soles are soft, so I think her feet would get cold/wet - they don't seem very practical for that.  But they are great when we are out running errands and I know she won't be walking around too much as they stay on her feet really well (I find ordinary boots don't stay on quite so well).  DD loves them too.

We have several pairs of the Robeez shoes too.  Again, I didn't like them for outside walking as they are soft soled, but they were great out and about, and we use them as slippers at home.

  • We have those same boots, and we loved them. They're great for going on easily and staying on well, and they keep their little feet warm, but once DD got to the walking stage we found we needed something a little sturdier with a hard sole. It would probably depend on how much walking you think he's going to be doing next winter.
