Scanning important documents Q...

We have a scanner, and are thinking of scanning important documents just so we have a backup in our computer.

Has anyone done this?

If so- what important documents have you scanned?

Re: Scanning important documents Q...

  • I am just starting to do this with my sons medical stuff. But I also plan one scanning a old family recipe book so that when I need recipes out of it I don't have to damage the book anymore, We plan on rebinding it soon.

  • Yep, I've scanned hundreds of pages of stuff.

    Old financial statements

    Old tax returns

    Class notes from grad school

    Doc from our previous home

    etc..

Usually after I scan them, I make a backup CD and put a copy on a flashdrive and then store it in my Gmail acct. This is four copies total and after that, I shred the paper copy.

I've gotten rid of tons of boxes of dusty paperwork this way.

    Hope is not a strategy.
