Crazy night here in Ashland.(long)
So, for the first time in my life, I witnessed flooding first hand. I was working last night when the heavy rain started. I noticed that the court yard at the restaurant was covered in three inches of water after just 30 minutes. The basement was submerged in about three feet of water after two hours. We then got the call that some parts of town were being evacuated to the elem. school and the fire station. So, the GM and myself began making MANY trips to bring food and supplies to the rescue workers and evacuees. It was during one of my trips to the fire station that I heard about the little girl. The guys who responded to the call were (needless to say) shocked and devastated. So sad. The lounge was full of people just hanging out waiting for their roads to reopen so they could get home. My brother's area was evacuated, so he, his wife, and their baby ended up staying with us, as well as my MIL (her area was completely washed out, and the first floor of her house was covered in a foot of water--the basement -an eight foot ceiling- was COMPLETELY FULL. when she opened the door the water was at the top step) Luckily for us, our house was fine. Just a couple of inches in the basement, which is normal for us after heavy rains. I just hope we're spared tonight.
