butterfly theme, for one yr. old, ideas?

We are having a butterfly themed party for my daughter in March, it will be in a hall...

I am torn between center pieces, I was thinking of doing white, or yellow/pink candles in glass, with flowers, and whimsical branches with butterflies... any ideas for great places to get cloth for the tables? any great websites, or suggestions.

Here is a picture I found on the net (I would add butterflies). Hopefully, it will post.

I would love any thoughts or ideas on decor. Or desert ideas, I am planning on creating a butterfly tower, (white butter-cream) with butterflies nexting on the top. There are so many butterflies to choose from, I want it to be cohesive... too many choices!! Party!!!

  • I think the centerpieces are pretty.  I'd go for the yellow candles and white cloths.

You can pick up butterflies at Michael's or  even at somewhere like Garden Ridge if you have one of those.  Also, if you have a Trader Joe's, you could do the mums as pictured or Gerbera daisies inexpensively.

Mostly, I'd stick to the color scheme, it'd be really easy to get overwhelmed if you do everything too matchy matchy.

  • Cute centerpieces.  I think adding the butterflies would be great.  All I know is that I have been dying to have a butterfly theme party after seeing the butterfly cupcakes on this blog:  http://annies-eats.com/2009/05/26/butterfly-cupcakes/

You can do them only in your colors to keep with your color scheme.  These would make such a festive and beautiful dessert!!

  • I think the centerpieces are really cute, but open flames with kids around would scare me.

Would you consider LED lights in frosted vases.  I know Costco sells big packs of LED lights.

    Love the butterflies on branches!

For a baby shower last year, the other co-host went a little butterfly crazy and used to many colors.  I think the butterflies would've made a bigger impact if they were all one color.  Just wanted to share b/c I know you're going to cohesive.

  • I had this saved for a future party.  This could easily be turned into a child's party.

Those straws were really cute! I like the idea of having the look of butterflies just resting everywhere. I bet if you cut a few out, you could find 1000 places to put them.  I dont know how fancy you would want to get- but you can find butterfly cookie cutters anywhere and you can always use them on (cookies obviously, but also) sandwiches, slices of cheese, fruit...
