I had a 3rd degree tear when I had my DD 18 months ago. It took about 3 months to heal up to where it didn't hurt. Still I don't let my DH have intercourse because it hurts. We have to use KY cause its so dry since giving birth, but it still seems to rub against the stitched up part which makes it hurt for days after. So I've just kept things to the oral, but I know he wants more and if we ever want another kid we're gonna have to so what do I do?
Re: Is this normal?

And, maybe look into some different positions?
Maybe have your H lube you up and manually stretch you a bit before intercourse, or give you an orgasm before intercourse. Chances are, you'd be a little more relaxed after an orgasm.
I agree, you need to see your dr. I know for me certain positions, mainly doggy, would hurt the area where I tore so we avoided that for a long time.
Having to use a lot of lube after childbirth isn't at all uncommon, so maybe you need to use more of it and engage in more foreplay.
At first I was going to say it's normal, but then I noticed it's been over a year since you gave birth! You need to see your OB. It's very possible that you've healed improperly.
I had a very nasty tear and an episiotomy after my middle child, but everything felt okay around 4-6 months postpartum.
Is it normal for all this talk about tearing make me NEVER want to have kids?!
YES! haha But just because I had a bad tear doesn't mean you will. There are steps to try and prevent it, and some things that I should've done that may have helped a little.
