Did you have any pets growing up as a child?  If not did you wish you did?

We have always had dogs.  We had a German Shepard (Prince aka "Princie") for about 12 years.   Then we got a Golden Retriever (or as my sister's and I called it "a Punky Brewster dog" since that was the dog on the show) for Christmas one year.  Holly, our Christmas dog was with us for 14 years.  

While we had Holly, my mom also took in a friend's mother's dog.  The mom was sick and couldn't take care of the dog. So we got a black poodle Fuffy (not Fluffy- Fuffy).   Then a few years later my sister who lived in AZ got a Cocker Spaniel puppy.  When my sister returned home from College the dog came with her.  She couldn't have a dog where she was moving to so guess who got the dog?  Then my other sister was in college and she got a dog and had kept it hidden in her dorm room until she got caught.  So she asked my parents to take the dog (black lab/greyhound mix). 

At one point we had 4 dogs.   Holly, Fuffy, Copper (Cocker Spaniel) and Shadow (the blacklab mix).   All 4 dogs have since passed on.

I had a female cat named Mr. Cat and a dog named Lillie.

Lillie is 16 and still alive.

My parents got me a dog when I was in 6th grade.  She was a cockapoo and I named her Sandy because in the year before I had played the role of Annie in a regional theater production and the dog in Annie is named Sandy.

Sandy was such a sweet sweet girl.  She passed away (had to be put down) the day after my grandfather was buried in 2006.  It was a very rough month.

Neither one of my parents had pets growing up (my mom lived on a farm and they had dogs but they were working dogs, not pets).  We had two cats growing up and that's it.  My parents got a dog a couple of years ago when they became empty nesters and she is like their grandchild.  They are utterly and completely obsessed with that dog.

My parent's had a dog before they had me which was part German Shepherd/part Husky/part wolf. He was massive and scared everyone. He died when I was around 5. I then got a cat and named him Pepper-he had a black and white nose and the lady upstairs let him out and he got run over by a car. We got a Springer Spaniel after that named Patches and then a Brittany Spaniel after he passed named Rusty. I found kittens when I was in 8th grade and took one home-her name is Jade and she's still alive! We got another cat when I left for college named Mia who our tenants were abusing so my dad took her from them. When I left for college- I had a dog, 2 cats, 2 frogs, 6 lizards and big tank full of fish. My parents still have the 2 cats now. And I have a dog and cat that live here with me.

When I was born my parents had a female Boxer named Maude (Maudie). she passed away when I was 4. a few months later my Dad brought home this black puff ball that, once we got her groomed, looked like Toto from the Wizard of Oz, so she was easy to name-we had her and then adopted another boxer named Bruno. (we had a boxer puppy named freckles in there for afew years but gave her to some friends who wanted a dog and had aLOT of land). Toto and Bruno lived to be very old-like 13ish (they weren't puppies when we got them)
  Right before Toto passed away my parents got a Weimaraner (sp) puppy named Silky....she lived for almost 13 years...during that time they had Bear (another boxer) as well (adopted Bear the day after my Sr prom)
 On my own/since college/w/ DH I've had 4 dogs-2 beagles (1 of which we still have now-Morgen) and 2 mutts (Kool and Oreo)
....that's quite the menagerie I know... but they were the best pets I could have had (or could still have) :-)

I got my first pet when I was 4.  He was a tabby cat named Otis.  He was such a sweet boy, and he died of kidney failure when he was 17.  I'm glad that I got to spend so much time with him.  My parents got another cat right before I left for college.  She's orange and white and her name is Phoebe.  And now DH and I have Molly, so she'll be special for our kids
