Didn't think it would be this hard!

I posted this question about a week or two ago, but still searching.  I'm having a karaoke party on Friday, but still no karaoke! Yikes!

Nationwide karaoke was suggested to me on the board, but their selection of pop and R&B isn't that large, so I was looking for other options.

I've called NUMEROUS local party rentals and such and either their selection hasn't been updated in 10 years, or they want $200 for the rental.  $200 is a bit much in my book for a rental since I know I could purchase one for cheaper.  However, I don't want to buy one because I'm sure I won't really use it after the party.

I never would have thought it would be this hard to find the equipment for a karaoke party...any suggestions?

Re: Didn't think it would be this hard!

  • Can you just rent the karaoke machine and then buy additional karaoke CDs?  I would think that would be a lot cheaper.

     THAT'S WHAT HE SAID!  LMFAO!!!!

  • LOL! That was funny...sorry...I just realized that typo!!! LOL! I was literally LOL!!! Ha!
  • I don't really know what you're after or the size of the party and what you've got at home, but...

YouTube does have karaoke music with the words and such. You could look for some that you like and favorite them. If you have the capabilities, you could hook your computer up to your television.

You can also download YT files. In the link, if you type in "voobys" in place of youtube, it'll take you to a site where you can DL them.

Then, google "free .flv to .mov converter" and you can convert the file to be played on a media player.

  • What type of cable do you have?  I know that Comcast has Karaoke On Demand.
  • At this late point, I would just buy one and then sell it on Ebay later, if you decide you don't want it anymore.
  • Do you have a Wii, XBox, or PS3? I think all of those systems have karaoke (sp) things for $50. And you can sell it later if you dont think you'd use it again.
