Movie Review
The Invention of Lying
I had never heard of this movie, but it was the top rental on iTunes so we decided to try it Friday night. The basic premise is that humans evolved without the capacity to lie, so every statement made was The Truth. Then one guy, Ricky Gervais, figures out how to lie and hilarity ensues.
Except it's not hilarity, it's a poorly thought out commentary on religion.
I felt like the idea had tons of potential, but the writing was lazy and the whole thing fell flat. It was definitely more sweet than funny...sortof had a Truman Show vibe to it, but not as good.
You're not missing anything if you skip this one.
