Microfiber cloths repelling water??

About a year ago I bought some microfiber cloths (in the car section) at Target.  We use them daily instead of paper towels.  I wash them in cold water and never use bleach or any fabric softener.  I've noticed over time that they are no longer absorbent, but are instead repelling all liquids.  Is it just time to get new ones?  Is there a way to fix them?  Ideas?  Thanks!

  • Maybe try washing in warm water.  I read that warm water is actually better for helping the microfiber release dirt and grime. 
  • Mine just started doing this too. I assumed it was because the nanny used fabric softener on it. I'm going to try adding some vinegar to the wash cycle to see if that helps (it works to "strip" cloth diapers so I don't know why it wouldn't work for these too).
