This didn't go over so well on the 9 to 5 board. Thoughts?
Are their any 6-figure jobs left?
-->
My company has recently been sold to a larger healthcare company. Therefore, myself, along with many others will be losing our jobs within the next few months. I have been looking for a new job for the past 6 months and have even had the opportunity of interviewing. However, once I get there, the jobs are paying nearly half my salary. I'm beginning to feel like there's nothing else left and taking a $50k paycut would be equivalent to unemployment. I know there are more Nesties that have experienced this. What did you do or how are you coping
Re: This didn't go over so well on the 9 to 5 board. Thoughts?
1. Why wouldn't you find out the pay before going?
2. If you're tight for money you'll take a pay cut, but I could see how taking 50% would hurt. It would hurt financially, emotionally, and may hurt in the long run. It may be difficult to get the salary back up there or at the next job. A lot of places have a cap on yearly raises plus you've set a precedent for the next place.
3. I don't know where she was working or if that's the norm for her job/location.
Maybe she could make six figures again if she knew the correct there/their/they're to use.
I just a friendly gal looking for options.
