Just wanted to introduce myself. I'm new to the board... and to Portland also!! DH and I moved her in Sept so that I could go back to school. No pets and no kids but somehow life still feels busy all the time. Anyway, from what I've seen from your previous posts, the Portland Nesties seem really fun and down to earth. I look forward to getting to know you ladies better!

We are LOVING Portland so far. Esp. the microbrews We moved from right outside of Washington DC. DH is from there; I am actually from New Jersey and my parents still live there.... I grew up at the beach... near where they are filming Jersey Shore actually. No I am not Italian and I am not messed up like the people on that show ... It gives NJ a bad rap but we all aren't like that.... I hate to admit but watching the show is one of my embarrassing guilty pleasures right now. I do miss the ocean but I love all the outdoorsey things you can do here. We did fly back east for xmas and missed the snow day here. Thank goodness. Part of the reason we wanted to come here was to get away from humid summers and snowy-wet cold winters. Also DH's sister lives here with her H and 2 kids so we do have some family. I used to be a science teacher but I am trying to get a lab job now. I'm going to school for a year to get certified in clinical lab science. Hopefully I'll get a job at a hospital around here next year.
Where is everyone on the board today?? lol Thanks for all the *waves* and welcomes!
That's great for you guys! Glad you love Portland, I love it here also, and i've lived here almost 28 years. I have family in Annandale, is that close to where you lived?
I also love Jersey Shore! ::fistpump:: No shame!

Yes!! I knew someone who was student teaching in Annandale. I lived in VA for 2 years before moving up to MD (right outside of DC). Even though it was different states it was only about 20 minutes up the beltway ... I was just closer to my job and saving a ton of time on my commute... at rush hour it could easily take 45 minutes or so to just go a few miles! Don't miss that.
Lovin' the fist pump!
