24hr TKB girls

So, I've done a handful of classes, but for some reason never TKB. One class always goes when I'm at the gym on certain days and it is packed! They never stop moving. Looks like an awesome cardio workout. My question is, how the heck do they all know what to do? There is NO way everyone can see the one teacher and very few people look confused. Are they just experienced? If I went to a random class would I be totally lost? Is there some beginner class where you learn the steps? Thanks for the info!

Signed,

The girl who doesn't want to look like a total idiot punching the air as everyone else roundhouse kicks.

Re: 24hr TKB girls

  • I'd say about 75%+ of the people in there have been to tkb before or are semi regulars.  The moves are all the same, it's just the choreography that is different depending on the gym and the teacher.  After a few classes, like 2 or 3, you'll be an old pro too.

I go on Tuesdays to Culver at 12noon.  It's a good one.  I'll check with you next week to see if you want to go with.

  • Yup. Just experienced.

Does your instructor at the begining of the class teach your the names of the basic moves? Mine usually does and that helps a lot.

It's one of those things where practice is the only way to really learn the moves. They rotate the same basic 8 or 10 moves for every round pretty much.

Keep up the good work! You'll get it I promise!

Noon on Tuesdays? Don't you work missy?! If you're on your lunch break, don't you get to be a sweaty pig? I know I do!

I make it a point to keep my Tues afternoons meeting free so I can come back to the office as a "dirtbag" (as my secretary says).  I don't shower after class.  Just slick my hair into a ponytail and put my clothes back on.

  • I have been doing TKB on & off forever... I want to say like 7 or 8 years. It's definitely just experience. Just don't get discouraged/give up after your first class. You will get the hang of it quickly. I love TKB. One of my favorite workouts.

OMG gross. This is what keeps me from working out on my lunch break (that and hunger).

I am too much of a sweaty pig to do this!  I've worked out on occasion during lunch, but lug all of my crap to shower/wash hair. yeah, I'd end up taking 2 hr lunches, heh.
