What's your favorite thing.

I just mosied over to the Canada board and was interested to see what this board would say.

What's your favorite thing. What do you do in your normal day to day life that really makes you content?

Re: What's your favorite thing.

  • I would have to say playing with my son. He is at the age where he is soo much fun to play with. The funniest part of it is when you throw something and he goes and gets it, brings it back to you, and you throw it again. He just laughs as he is going to go get it.

  • I like being able to relax and read a good book. Not that I get to do thay everyday but when I do its great. Playing with my cats and grabbing a coffee with the Mr. is right up there to.

  • Curling up on the couch under a big, warm blanket after a long day to either watch tv or read a book.
  • Things that make me content in my day to day life (and I have more than one to keep me going):

    1. Every morning in the shower I count down (out loud) how many days I have left of work before I can sleep in on the weekend.

    2. Having coffee as soon as I get to work.  Boot up computer and grab a cup of joe to plan my day.

    3. Kissing my husband as soon I get home from work.  This is an essential part of my day!

    4. Doing the dishes after dinner, wiping down the kitchen counters and turning off the light in the kitchen... it's my way of saying: "Kitchen is closed". And I can plop myself down on the couch to relax!

  • Seriously, every day when I come home from work or on the weekends when I come home from shopping etc I LOVE changing into my oversized Cardinals World Series hoodie and men's polo pajama pants...that are also oversized.  They are so comfy and awesome.....whether I curl up on the couch, sit in my office and light all the candles and surf the internet, or cook dinner....so comfy!  Sleep
  • I feel like such an old lady, but knitting is my favorite.  It's so relaxing and (most of the time) makes me feel in control of something after a hard day at work.  I'm going to finish that sweater tonight, dang it!

  • Ooooo... lots of things...

    1) My dog.  I love how excited she gets when I get home after work.  I love how she curls up in her dog bed next to our bed when I go to sleep at night.  I LOVE that she's now jumping up on the sofa to sit by me (even though she's not supposed to be on the furniture.  Kills me every time I have to make her get down).

    2) A good story, whether it's reading or watching on TV.

    3) Cooking. So relaxing. Eating.  Even better.

    4) Making my DH happy.  We have a little war going on deciding who can be nicer to the other.

    5)  LoL... vitamin E oil.... odd, I know, but it's made my excema WORLDS better.

  • 1. Curling up on the couch catching up on my shows or surfing the internet.

    2. Cooking dinner for the hubby

    3. Snuggling up in bed with the hubby, especially when I have it too cold in the house :)

  • My hubby, of course, but also my dog.  I love him more than I can explain. :)  He makes me smile every day and I love cuddling with him - even if he doesn't like to... haha!

Ohh, and TV.  It sounds terrible, but I love a good TV show to follow.  I follow several, mostly sit coms, because I love to laugh.  I also have dozens of TV shows on DVD... ranging from How I Met Your Mother to The Golden Girls to The Office to I Love Lucy.  Wide range. :)

... is the "him" you're referring to your husband or dog? : )

  • Cuddling up with the pups and/or watching them do crazy things.  It's probably a bit weird how much I love them, but hey, they make me happy!
  • Like Nicole... I love that first kiss after we get home from work.  Every single day.. we never miss it!  And after dinner when we're just sitting side by side in our bed, both of us on our laptops... :)

I love to have a whole day of crafting (to include any of the following....rubber stamping, photography, decoupage... whatever the mood brings).

And I love in the morning on the weekend when I wake up before hubby I head into the living room and cuddle up on the couch with a blanket and a good book... it's so relaxing and peaceful.

  • Things that make my day so much better:

    1.  The 45 minutes I have to myself every morning.  I have time to watch the news or shows that I DVR'd during that week.

    2.  Sitting on the couch with our dog curled up against me while I surf the internet.

    3.  Eating dinner at the table with DH and talking about the day.

    4.  A hot shower before bed.  A good night's sleep always follows a hot shower.

  • It USED to be busting my asss in the afternoons at spin class. But I've been staying really late at the lab and I just don't have time anymore...

Other than that, seeing Cal when I get home at the end of the day... and the doggies. And thinking about one day when I don't have to work in a lab :)

  • I think one of the best things is teaching my 2nd graders. I know it sounds cliche, but I really love my job. Seeing a child when the "light goes off"...is awesome!

For the past three months, another thing is coming home and spending evenings with my husband. He is a great guy and I love him so much. I just thank God every day that I found him before someone else did! lol

  • I ususally fire on all cylinders during the day and just cram a ton of stuff into it.  By the time I get home, I'm beat.  Hubby has learned that I need bout a half hour of "chill out" time just to decompress.  I may sit down and read email or play a game or read etc, but I just need a little "me" time before I can tackle the rest of the evening.

I also LOVE getting up earlier than hubby on Sunday mornings and curling up on the couch with my crazy oversized blanket and reading the paper.  I usually let the dog out and then let her crawl in my spot on the bed to snuggle with hubby.  She's a very good snuggler.

And lastly - I need a good night's sleep.  For whatever reason, I haven't been sleeping well and have been waking up a lot during the night.  I would pay a million dollars for a solid 9 hours I think!

Haha, I was actually referring to my dog but maybe let's say I meant both! :)

  • My favorite thing each day is after dinner time, when I get Lincoln into his PJs and then we hang out on the couch, either watch a movie or read books. Since he skips his nap now he falls asleep early, so usually we just cuddle on the couch until he falls asleep. Since hubby works overnights 7p-7a we are the only ones home, so we can do whatever we want. And some nights he sleeps in mommy's bed so that mommy can cuddle with him in there too. :) He helps me evaluate what is really important each day and the end of the night.
  • I have a few things:

    1. My morning routine - it's kinda sacred. So much so that DH stays in bed so I can have that quiet time to get ready for the day ahead.

    2. My morning coffee. I only drink one cup a day, so it's essential.

    3. Our tv at night - we have several shows we follow and it's one of our favorite things to do at night.

    4. Photography - this is one that I'm just picking up. Right now since I haven't had much time to shoot, I tend to enjoy editing challenges.

    5. SLEEP. I really do look forward to going to bed every night. LOVE IT

  • Hubby and I snuggle and smooch a LOT (we actually joke that we wish could be more affectionate Wink) but my favorite thing is when he sits on one end of the couch and I lean against him with my pillow and what's called "The Sheepie Blanket". It's a cotton-stuffed flannel blanket (baby blue with sheep on it, hence the name) that was made for me many years ago and it is the comfiest thing EVER! then we usually watch the news or Wendy Williams at 10pm (if you don't know Wendy, look it up!) to unwind before going to bed.
