We're re-vamping the bed along our west house wall. The bed is about 21' long and arcs outward from the wall.
Currently we have a variegated hosta we'd like to keep and maybe the rose bush. The hosta is at one end of the bed, so we were thinking of putting a 2nd one at the other end. Possibly a 3rd in the middle. The hosta gets to be 18" (flowers are around 26") tall.
I know I'd like to add wild columbine which, while not as showy as some of the crosses, is a nice hardy native perennial and the blooms can get to about 3' tall (the foliage gets to about 1-2').

We're Zone 5, the bed would be in part sun. I'm looking for a nice mix of mid-size flowering plants from about 6" - 24" for season long color. Maybe 3 or 4 more types. Any other suggestions for plants?
Re: Plant suggestions for perennial bed
Cranesbill?
We have these with our hostas and like the foliage color when it's not in bloom.

How about a mounding Bell Flower? We have some planted and they bloom for a long time. They fit the size you are looking for too..
I don't know if this is much help but here's just a list of perennials I can come up with off the top of my head that might work:
None of them really bloom all season though.
