Recommend your Camera Bag

I got a dSLR Camera for Christmas and now I'm in the market for a bag to go along with it. Does anyone have one they would recommend? I don't really know what I need to look for functionality-wise...I only have the 1 attached lens as of now. I may get another down the road, but not anytime soon.

Thanks!

Re: Recommend your Camera Bag

  • Looking further down the road, you'll probably want something that can carry your camera, a spare battery or two, & at least 1-2 extra lenses. I'm a fan of the back pack camera bags. On vacations & all-day trips, shoulder bags can really put a strain on you. Try looking around for something similar to this (they come in all sorts of sizes & configurations): http://tinyurl.com/ylrghon

If you're looking for something really basic for just the one lens, you can always start with somethingl like this: http://tinyurl.com/ykxmeua

  • I just started out as well, and I just got the BUILT NY medium cargo bag. It fits my canon xsi plus has room for at least 2 lenses. I didn't want to go the backpack route, so I chose that one. I don't plan on traveling with more than 2 lenses though.
  • I found this flickr thread on camera bags for women:

  • I have the Crumpler 5 million dollar home bag.  It's great and little more funky than your standard camera bag.  It fits my Nikon D90 with 18-105mm attached on one side and the 70-300mm on the other side.  I also squeeze my 50mm lens in, as well.  No complaints!
  • Since I want something fashionable that I can use as a purse, I'm holding out for the new JoTotes bags or an Epiphanie.  Go through the Photography board on the Bump and read some of the posts there.  There are others that have been recommended.
