Good morning, ladies! Anyone watch American Idol last night? I caught the tail-end of it last night and boy was that kind of awkward between Katy Perry and Kara D. or what? I couldn't tell if they were joking or about to rip each other's weaves out.
I'm excited for lunch time because I'm going to go to Ikea and Pier 1 to look for some neutral decorations to take the place of some of our pictures in the house. I want to do some kind of grouping above the bed in the master because it's kind of bare right now. I also wanted to get matching lamps for the bed side tables.
How's everyone's week going so far?
Re: Half way there!
Good morning!
My week is dragging so far and I don't feel great this morning....I've been exhausted and I'm not sure why. I went of birth control 2 weeks ago just to give my body time to normalize and so far I haven't had any crazy symptoms but I'm starting to think the exhaustion may be one. I feel like I can't get enough sleep.
I got to see my niece yesterday so that made my day great
She's 2 1/2 months old now and starting to get a little more responsive. She gives me big smiles all the time and she's always wide awake.
Anyone making any fun plans for Valentines Day?
I'm freezing.
I still feel like crapola as well.
Also I really want a pop-tart.
Yesterday I stopped at CVS on my way home for some nasal spray because nothing was taking my sinus pressure away. I hop out of my car and just grab some cash because I plan to run in and run out so no need for the purse. I grab my recommended nasal spary and head to the front of the store. Where some old lady asked for ID. Completely baffled I asked why. They needed to record my ID because the product I was buying has the ability to be snorted. How else are you supposed to take nasal spray! I never did end up buying the nasal spray.
I feel like you need your ID to buy everything, now!
NYgirl - around 3 months is when babies really start to get fun. Enjoy your niece!
I have no time to watch my shows anymore! My DVR is filled up, and LOST starts next week. By the time I'm done dinner and getting Jack to bed, I have time to shower, have a snack and get things ready for the next day, then its time for bed.
I just put in a proposal yesterday to work from home 2 days/week. Really hope it gets approved! Or at least they can give me 1 day/week. That would definitely make things easier.
My DVR is the only thing that lets me watch shows...the fast forward and pause are a lifesaver
No fun V-day plans yet. We don't really do gifts or anything, maybe just dinner, but we usually go out early to avoid the crowds. That sounds like something my grandparents would do. Lovely.
We usually don't do anything for Valentine's day. We'll usually have dinner at home and if we give gifts it's usually a requirement that it be a cheesy Valentine's gift. The cheesier the better. It's turned into a sort of who can get the cheesier gift.
I always tell the mister that I would much rather have flowers sent to my office on a random Tuesday then on Valentine's day. It means a lot more that way I think.
We're in the same boat for Vday - we don't really do anything. When we first started dating, we got gifts. Now our plans are just to order sushi and drink wine on our couch. no gifts..just cards.
Lily - I agree about the flowers! much better on a random day, then overpriced and cliche on Vday!
Ditto Lily. I wrote an article in college that said V Day should be stricken from the calendar. If you have an SO, there's all kinds of dumb pressure and if you don't, it's all you think about.
That said, we'll probably do the same as Toni & Ryan. Grab sushi and cuddle on the couch. Normally we'd crack a bottle of wine, but I'll settle for sparkling something or other.
Honestly, I'd just be happy if H can walk by then. I'm getting might tired of walking the dog in the freezing cold twice a day and taking care of all the meals.
Yes, but I argue that St. Patty's is way more productive when the end goal for participants is get drunk. Way easier to achieve than fall in love and live happily ever after.
Therefore, the marketing works better for the Irish!
AI was a little strange last night. I like Katy Perry's catchy tunes but I'm not so sure how much I like her. She's pretty annoying.
No V-day plans yet. I was happy just to go to dinner with just the DH and I last Friday, so maybe a date night again. He's wanted to go to the movies lately so maybe dinner and a movie? It's a holiday I could care less about (says the girl who spent close to $40 in cards at Hallmark for the DH, son, g-parents, parents, etc. It's cute to get cards from a kid, right?)
Babies are so fun!
Toni-I hope you get to work from home a little bit. Will you get work done with Jack around? I know I wouldn't with Aidan.
Oh, and amen to DVR. If it weren't for that I wouldn't see anything!
Staci - I would still have my mom or grandmother here on the days I worked at home. Because, no - I wouldn't get anything done with Jack around. I plan on setting up in our basement so I can get stuff done, then I can come up and visit him throughout the day.
Toni-that's what Sean does during the summer and on my days off since he works from home all year long. He comes and visits throughout the day. It's nice and Aidan really enjoys it. I just know I could never work straight through, I'd want to play and cuddle.
