Circus Bride is in labor
She was having pains and drove herself to the hospital, where she found out her water broke.
Groom is scared schitless. H said he was really shaky on the phone.

This. Did she call her H on the way or anything? Or not until she found out she was in labor?
She called him this morning while he was working and told him about the pains. He said if they're not too bad, maybe she could head there and find out what's going on and let him know so he wouldn't have to leave work if it's nothing. That's when she found out her water had broken as well.
It's completely douchey of him to suggest she go by herself. It's scary and you're not supposed to drive. I really wish she would have called me or something. I have told her I'd be there if she needed me.

I probably wouldn't even have called my H - I would have just headed off to the doc's if I thought I could. Hell, I knew my water broke - it was a freaking flood - but I put on some new pants and ran a load of laundry and had something to eat and watched TV before heading out.
Maybe he has a fragile work situation. Maybe this isn't the first time she's had pain. I'm sure plenty of people drive themselves to the hospital while in labor, and I'm sure they're all fine. I'm also sure that he's probably with her NOW, since it is something serious.
Yes, he is a douche and this is another douche behavior. They live 10+ miles from the hospital, FFS.
He doesn't have a fragile work situation. He works for the same company as my DH. And no, he's not there yet. He's finishing up first. Sure, he's probably got plenty of time before the baby arrives, but there was no way in hell *I* was going to go through labor (especially my first) by myself, and I can't imagine she'd want to be by herself.
Maybe it means I'm not strong, but I know when I went into labor, my H was by my side every minute and was always there when I needed to squeeze some fingers.
She called him and said "I think I'm in labor." He told her to go to the hospital and find out and let him know.

If she had said "I'm having some pain, not sure what it is, then maybe that would be a better excuse.
