Eh... maybe it's because I have an iPhone, but so far I'm not impressed. I like typing on the iPhone better than a BB but I really think not having a physical keyboard is weird. Unless you're really only using this thing to watch movies/TV.
And I think iSlate would have been a cooler name.

Re: iPad
That's true. My dad has an iPod Touch and I think he'd probably like the iPad better. Though who wants to carry that thing around with them?? Bigger isnt' always better.

here are my thoughts:
1. the name sounds like a maxipad
2. if i traveled a lot for work - and i mean a lot - i think it would come in handy. that way i wouldnt have to lug my heavier laptop with me everywhere i went
3. it is kinda like a kindle meets itouch, cool, but again, i think only a specific demographic would really utilize this a lot.
4. looks like they are trying to break into the gaming world possibly?
5. if i had a ton of money i would prob want one, even if i didn't use it a lot - cos i am geeky like that.

I just heard $499
ETA:
11:18 a.m.: It's $499.
11:19 a.m.: To start, anyway at 16GB.
$599 for 32GB, $699 for 64GB. With 3G, add $130 to each. So: $629, $729, and $829.

This. As one of my Twitter peeps said, "I have a feeling there were no women in on that product naming decision."
My husband was hoping it would be a better e-reader and, in that capacity, it looks like it could be okay. But, meh, I'm still going to wait for the 4th generation Kindle or Nook. A larger version of the iTouch doesn't interest me.

On your #1 and PP response: My Apple friends are making fun of the name and saying there will be an accessory called iMaxi and iTampon out soon. So, even they think it's dumb.

I would rather have an iPhone and a laptop just because I want a "real" keyboard when doing "real" computer work. I don't really get the appeal. But I don't get the appeal of an iTouch either.
bwahahahaha!
I haven't read a ton about it, but it is trying to compete with netbooks? if so, I want it. NOW.
