WWWW/MND?

I have a slight dilemma. We have a front bathroom that looks like this:

Yesterday,   the faucet control for the shower snapped off, literally, leaving us with no  the way to turn water off/on in that shower.

So, we need to decide how we want to handle it. We can just outright replace the handle and leave it be. Or we can hold off, not have a second shower for guests (who are few and not likely to be overnighters) until the summer when I am done with school and we have the time and money to do a very simple remodel. it would just be new tile for the shower and floor and a new vanity.

To be  fair, I hate, hate, hate the tile in there now. It is gray/brown, uneven in texture, and always looks wet and dirty. The grout is two different colors, dirty brown on the floor, grey in the shower.

So, what would you do?

  • can't see the picture, but can you just replace the handle with a cheap one right now and still re-do it this summer?

  • L&R said what I would have.

  • Well, it is one of the one valve types with a cassette/cartridge insert that needs a plumber to put it in. I forgot to mention that.

The thing has always been wonky, our contractor took a look at it and said he could have repaired/adjusted it some, but that it would take him a few hours because of the lack of this special tool. So we decided to let it slide since the shower gets little use right now.

  • I'd let it slide until summer. (this is coming from a person who has lived in a two bathroom house with one disabled shower since June.)

  • In that case, I'd let it slide until summer.

and replace it w/ something that doesn't require special tools. :-P

  • yeah, in that case I'd just wait until the summer.

  • Wait until summer and remodel.
