Happy Thursday

Good morning, Ladies!

Today is my Friday.  I have another eye doctor appointment tomorrow and I think she's just going to say I need an eye transplant.  She gave me different contacts to try and somehow they're worse than my other ones :(  I'm seriously tired of this.

I went to Ikea at lunch yesterday and got new curtains, a curtain rod, some frames and some containers to put bulk food in.  I'm not sure which room to put the curtains in, because they go with every room.  At lunch today I'm going to head to the craft store to pick up some patterned paper to put in the frames.  Ikea had some, but it was square and I wanted rectangular frames.  My goal for tonight is to lay out some packing paper and make a template of my frame arrangement so I don't have to move them around a million times.

I really hope we don't get all that snow they're forcasting for Friday/Saturday.  I have plans!

Re: Happy Thursday

  • Izzy: I've been meaning to do the same thing with my photos but still haven't even bought frames yet!!

I agree with the No snow thing....I'm so over winter and ready for summer and the sad thing is that I still have to make it through Feb and March :(  Monday was such a tease with it being 60 out....it really just makes you feel so much better.

We are in the process of getting a small loan for DH's business expansion and it's turning out to be such a hassel now that banks are so strict.  I have a big investment but they won't use it a collateral unless it's a CD and we were going to do a small home equity line then found out that when we bought our house Bank of America put two liens on our house with our 80/20 mortgage and nobody understands why they would do that....we keep getting told that they should only be the 1st since both loans are the main mortgage, which pretty much means we can NEVER use our home equity with this mortgage...not that I want too but if ever needed for something important we can't unless we refinance....I'm REALLY starting to regret going with Bank of America for our mortgage..we have such problems.  So it looks like we are going with a small personal line of credit (higher rate :( ) and now have to go back to the bank.  Hmm, did that all just make sense Smile

I just need this week to be over!!!!!

  • Today's my Friday, too. Looking forward to getting some rest.. I've been so blah this week and feel like I'm getting a cold. I have a 4-day weekend!!! We're celebrating DH's brothers (twins!) 21st birthdays in AC on Sunday night. Should be fun. Hope I can hang! :)
  • Good luck, eb! That sounds really fun.

Izzy, what contacts have you had issues with lately? I was having problems and moved to Acuvue Oasys and really like them. They don't seem to dry out as quickly.

We have Restaurant Week Round 2 tonight at Buddakan. Anyone gone for RW yet? I'm curious how the menu measures up to the regular one.

  • Kristen - If you send me an email I can try and answer some of your mortgage lien questions.  It mainly has to do with the 80/20 mortgage.

Izzy - When you are done staging your place would you like to come over and help me decorate my place?  I'm always afraid to do anything, but I really should.

Today is not my Friday it is only my Thursday.  However the mister and I are going to the Flyers game tonight.  We got tickets for Christmas.

In a week I'll be going to Atlanta for two days for work so I'll get a little sun then.  I also will enjoy napping on the plane and getting paid for it.

  • I'm using Oasys now.  I've been having redness issues since last year.  The Dr. thought it was the contacts, because several of her patients have had the same symptoms on Oasys.  I'm also on a anti-histamine eye drop now.  She gave me the Acuvue 1-day to try this week and I feel like they're going to pop out of my eye any minute.  My eyes have also been super red in the morning after wearing them the day before.  I'm a mess.

    Staging wise:

-Decluttering all DVD stands in living room

-Taking out huge stereo in bookcase in LR

-Taking down all personal pictures (wedding, family etc)

-Clearing out closets (weddings stuff, wedding gifts, stacks of pictures, paint stuff, plates/glasses/small appliances we never use)

-I'm taking down the nasty blinds in the office and putting up curtains

-Taking out all excess furniture (recliner, coat rack, ottoman, toy chest we use for linens)

    -Recaulking the entire freaking house

-Patching up chips in the countertop since we're not getting a new one

There's a million other things I want to do, but I'm not sure if I'll get around to them or if they'll matter.  Our paint is pretty neutral, so I think we're ok with that.  We've replaced all the ceiling fans and most of the flooring so we're good there too.  No major renos

  • You may just need to switch brands entirely and go with Bausch & Lomb or AMO. Sometimes people have strange reactions to a particular product due to the innate nature of them.

Are you seeing an ophthalmologist or optometrist? You might want to move up to an ophthalmologist if you haven't yet. If they're red w/o the contacts, it could be more serious.

(Sorry I'm on my soap box. I write about this stuff for a living.)

  • Natalie: I'll email you after work today...Thanks!
  • She's an optometrist.  Thanks for the suggestions...I'll bring them up tomorrow at my appointment.  This will be my 4th appointment about the problem, so if I don't see some kind of results soon I might just have to take your advice and see an opthalmologist.

    Thanks!

  • started the new job on monday. this is my first full week in a LONG time, i used to get one work from home day a week. So i'm so not thrilled that this is indeed my thursday. Very excited abot the new job, things are going very well. Traveling stars on Feb 8th and is typically 2-3 days a week, some more, until Mid March. I'm totally ok with it and very excited.

But overall i am exhausted. the hubs and i fell sleep on the couch at about 915 last night. no idea when he woke me up to come to bed. Have to go to Fashion Stitch and get all my pants after work tonight, i hate being tall.

But just had two great meeting with new ppl i will be wokring with. just cant wait for the weekend!

  • I'm working at home today because I had a Dr's appt. I stopped nursing and I've been in pain for about a week, then started feeling nauseous yesterday. Dr thinks I have early mastitis. So I'll start the antibiotic today and hopefully feel better by the weekend!

Today is my Thursday, too. at least I'm at home - can't complain. I love working at home - I really hope I get my proposal approved to work from home twice/week.

  • Izzy - I wore contacts for 5 years, then when I went to college they started bothering my eyes. I tried SO many brands. I was limited because I had astigmatism, but there were still plenty of brands. nothing worked. So I had to wear glasses, which I hated. I ended up getting LASIK 5 years ago - best thing I ever did. When I tried to get LASIK a few yrs earlier they said I wasn't a good candidate, but then I went back and was able to get it with the "Intralase" technology.
  • I want lasik so bad right now.  Someone said that I should wait until after I get preggers, because the hormones will change my vision.

Is this true or completely made up?

  • hmm..I have no idea. I know they said I would probably need a touchup some years down the line. But I haven't really noticed a change in my vision since having Jack.
  • Izzy - This is obviously a sign that you should get preggars now.

It may change your eyes during pregnancy, but they will usually return to your pre-pg vision after the baby is born. Pregnancy shouldn't affect the long-term LASIK effects.

Plus, now is a good time to look into it because LASIK is in a bit of a slump (just starting to come out) so you may be able to negotiate.

My sight was actually better when I was pregnant, not tons, but enough that I could notice. It returned to it's usual state within 6 months after having Aidan.

I, too, am having eye issues. My contacts seem to dry out so quickly. I'm on the Acuvue ones that I change every two weeks, but they're dry by lunchtime. So annoying.
