  • I'm holding off on buying one.

  • um I don't even have a phone with a texting plan, internet or a camera. I don't own an ipod or any other fancy gadgets - so all signs point to no here.
  • They're a pretty good price, but they're basically a touch screen netbook that doesn't close. No ports for anything, which would annoy me. I've already got an iPhone and a laptop so this isn't anything above and beyond.

They would be good for showing portfolios though.

  • It's also not going to run multiple applications at once. It's basically a giant ipod touch.

agree with pp. I'll stick with my iphone and laptop.

  • I am completely sold!  I may even try to pre-order it if possible, so that I'll definitely be able to pick it up when I'm in the US in late April.

I don't have an iPhone or a netbook, and I've been on the fence about both, so the iPad sounds perfect for me.

My biggest qualm with the iPhone is that it's way too big for me to use as a phone.  It won't even fit in my pocket!  Now I can get an iPad and keep it in my (big ol') purse, and stick with my silly little pocket-sized cell phone.  As for the netbook, I don't really need a full computer, because I have a nice laptop that I'll continue to use for photo editing and other software-based tasks.  I just wanted a computer that was small enough to fit in my purse.

Also, not having to wait for it to boot is a big advantage around the house.  For quick internet tasks like looking up a recipe, checking bus schedules, etc. we usually use DH's iPhone instead of booting a computer anyway, so it will be nice to have a larger screen.

I feel like I am the niche this thing was designed for.

  • Nope. I got DH a nook for Christmas -- he loves it.

I swear by my iPhone, but the ipad just doesn't seem to know what it really is. IMO it is too big to be useful as an ereader and not powerful enough to be a good netbook.

Bleh. (There will obviously be a ton of people that will run out and buy one, but I don't think this is going to be the next big thing . . . I bet the 2ns gen will have TONS of fixes and mods)

  • I voted for other.  No need for it, no need for any apple product, really.  I've had bad luck with their products and customer service.

???  I've never had bad luck with an Apple product, or a bad experience with Apple CS.

Now Microsoft... Talk about some of the crappiest products and the worst customer service on the planet.  Want to know how I know Microsoft has the worst CS?  Because their shiit breaks so damn often that you have to call them all the time, yet they are totally helpless and don't speak English.  You have to spell every.single.word. to them and they still don't understand your problem.

This isn't the norm imo. They have built their reputation on bullet proof products and good cs...
