Has anyone here used Provera before?

If so, I have a question. We've been TTC for about 5 months now. I haven't had a cycle for about 12 weeks now. The doctor prescribed Provera. I took it for the 5 prescribed days. It has been a few days since the last dose.

How long did it take your period to start after the last day of Provera?

(Definately not pregnant though) TIA!

Re: Has anyone here used Provera before?

  • Oh and I posted on GP since that's ON TOPIC. Half the people on this board are preg or trying so I thought i'd check here also. If it's too personal, you can always PM me. Thanks again.

  • I have and I think it took about a week.  Dont't they say up to 10 days?

  • I'm not sure about the 10 days, because it slipped my mind to ask the dr about the time frame. Someone over on GP said 5 days so i'll give it a few days and see what happens.

  • Anywhere up to 10 days can be normal.

The challenge test of Provera can be repeated if nothing happens this round.

How regular were you before now? Was it only while on birth control?

I've never had a regular cycle. I can't time it at all. One cycle it can be a perfect 4 weeks and the next could be anywhere up to 3 months or so.

I also have really terrible periods - cramps, severe back pains, sore bewbs, heavy flow, bloating, severe mood swings. So when I do have them stay outta my way lol!

I want to start so we can get back TTC, but it sucks so bad to have it.

  • Not to armchair diagnose, but have you ever been told you have PCOS or has it ever been mentioned in passing?

Like I said, I can't tell from here, but some of your symptoms make me think it is something to consider.

  • I've thought about that and will ask my dr about it at my next annual. I know at least my oldest sister has it. She got pregnant the first month, lucky girl!

I do have migraines and fibromyalgia. (As well as my sisters and mother.)
