I'm currently away visiting family since my grandmother is sick. Before I left I went to Whole Foods and bought a lot of good things for the house (I watched Food Inc the other day ). I am making the effort to look at ingredients in my food, eat organic meats, and things like that.
My question is, besides packing healthy snacks when you hit the road, how else do you manage your diet when you are away?
I am sure that eating "badly" once in a awhile isn't going to hurt, but what is a good organic/non-organic (bad additives, etc.) ratio to live by?
ETA: I forgot my intro! My name is Marisa and I live in Maryland. I have a furbaby and I love to watch bad TV.

Best sound ever: baby's heartbeat! (Heard @ 10w1d)
I don't use a "ratio." I just do the best I can in any given situation. If you've bought some food/snacks, I'd say that's all you can do for now until you're back home in your own surroundings. I hope your grandmother is better soon!

Ditto pp. I try to do the best I can. I pack a lot of snacks b/c I'm GF, too, so it's important to stay vigilant when it comes to that. I take my KK everywhere so I always have water, and most of my family member at least have a water filter. Then, if I have to do fast food (depending on where you are and who you're with, sometimes it's the only option) or just eat out, I try to choose the healthiest options, ie: a salad with grilled chicken instead of deep fried whatever.
Have a safe trip, and I hope your grandmother gets better soon!
Edit: I forgot to add that when we stay with people, we often volunteer to do the cooking, even if it's just one night. Then we control the ingredients!! Also- I love the song in your siggie!
