I've got the most exciting new of 2010! (for me at least)
I just ordered my first co-op share!!! I've been procrastinating, but I finally did it! I can now cross fruits and veggies off the list of things I have to buy from the grocery store. Don't get me wrong, I love the selection at my local grocier, but it feels much better to get greaat local produce in addition to it being orgainic. Being from Texas we have such a great wealth of produce grown right here, and I want to take advantage of it!
Side Note: Saw a lady at the store with strawberries in her cart, (pre-cut/washed and in a plastic container nonetheless) and wanted to tackle her. I don't know if any of you guys watch Good Eats, but there was this Christmas episode where the ghost of Mark Twain went through Alton's fridge and was said "Strawberries in winter? How curious.". I think of that everytime I see someone/someplace with them in January.

Re: I've got the most exciting new of 2010! (for me at least)
Hahaha.. I love that episode of Good Eats... well, let's be honst, any episode of Good Eats. haha
Good for you on the co-op! That is an awesome opportunity
This fellow Houstonian would also like to know which co-op you used.
My husband would also like it pointed out that it was Charles Dickens, not Mark Twain, in the Good Eats episode, and he would know. He watches that show all the freakin time.
That's great news about the co-op! I feel the same way about out of season produce, mine is asparagus. I see people buying asparagus all.the.time and I just want to shake them and say "THAT'S FROM PERU! DO YOU HAVE ANY IDEA HOW MUCH FOSSIL FUELS IT TOOK TO GET THAT HERE?!? WTH IS WRONG WITH YOU!'
ETA: And I *hate* the "fresh from Peru" sign above them. Uhhh, it's from the other hemisphere, how could it be "fresh?"
LOL!! Eating seasonally makes me think that too when I see such 'strange' fruits and veggies in winter. Its so odd when I hear people talk about eating avocados. Avocados?? Its January! Well, ok, now its February, but still!!
