magic jack?

Anybody have that Magic Jack that they advertise on tv? Home phone line with no monthly bill?

DH and I just bought it. We've only had our cell phones before this, and though we don't really feel like we need a "house phone" we thought it might be good to have for when our phones are dead, or we're looking for them (cause i loose mine probably every 2 hours or so...) and to have for when we're low on cell phone minutes (since we're now joining our plan with my parents plan to keep it cheaper for everyone..). It was pretty cheap, 40 bucks for the device and 1 year of service, and then 20 bucks a year after the first year. Thats less than half of what we pay a month for our cell phones, so we figured its worth it.

I just hooked it up, but havn't used it yet (other than calling DH in the other room to "test it")... just wondering if anyone has it and what you think of it so far.

and i thought i loved you then <3<a href="http://daisypath.com/">Daisypath Anniversary tickersBaby Birthday Ticker Ticker

Re: magic jack?

  • The main thing, you are not going to be able to call 911 with it. But if it is just for "everyday" use or as a cell phone back up, I don't see why not. If it has a money back guarantee I would use it a whole lot in that time to make sure you are 100% happy with it.
  • A friend's parents bought it and weren't impressed with the audio quality.  They went back to a land line because they were not at all satisfied.

  • We have it because our cell phone reception sucks. It works ok. Some calls it clear. But then sometimes theres an echo and its fuzzy, the other person on the line can't hear me. I dont think I will be renewing our plan.
