Moving. . .

Hubby and I are moving to Columbia, SC within the year. My workplace will be on Main Street downtown, but being a court reporter I will have to travel all over the city. Any advice about good areas to live in, or Any good apartments? Any other advice on the area would be a great help, also. Thanks so much!

Re: Moving. . .

  • I'm not in Columbia but I just wanted to wish you good luck.

  • We recently relo'd this past Fall to the Columbia area.  I did a lot of research on the different areas we could live in and we chose to move to Lexington and could not be more happier with our decision!  We're renting right now until we become more acclimated with the neighborhoods in the area and then will buy a house in the next year or so.  Anyway, we are bout 10-15 minutes from downtown Columbia and have easy access to everything!  We are super close to all of the highways and Lexington is a really nice area.  There is shopping/restaurants/etc here in the area or you can travel a short distance to other areas around like downtown Columbia or Harbison.  We don't have children yet, but everything I have read/heard and from the people we have talked to (at work) Lexington is one of the best areas to live in around Columbia.  It's really clean, the schools are the best and there are a lot of options here; it's very convenient!

I don't know how much help I can actually be since we've only lived here for 4 months, but hopefully this helps a little bit!  Good luck!

  • Thanks so much. I have looked at apartments and houses in Lexington for rent and really liked everything, so I am glad that it is as good of an area as I thought it might be. We will def. be looking there first when we come to visit in April. Thanks for the advice!
