Job vibes & labor dust needed

I know that I won't want to go back to work after my maternity leave but I kinda have to because I am the insurance provider for our family.  So I've been hoping and praying to find a part time job so I can just work 2 days a week and still get benefits.  I didn't think one would open up where I am now, but I found out yesterday that there is one posted!  It goes by seniority and so far the only people I know that want it are below me in seniority so please send some vibes that no one else wants it!  Working 2 days is SO much better than 3...for some reason that extra day really kicks my butt.  (12 hour night shift kicks my butt in general, I guess).

Also, I've been having major pain mostly when I'm at work...I mentioned it in the mamas to be update.  It feels like I'm being stabbed with an ice pick in my cervix, and it's mostly when I'm standing or walking for long periods.  Hence, mostly at work.  On Tuesday night it lasted a good 2 hours straight!  UGH.  I'm scheduled to work Mon-Wed and that's it...but if I don't have the baby next week I don't want to waste my FMLA and might try to work again the following week (the week of my due date).  I would just hate to sit around at home waiting to go into labor and wasting my precious FMLA time.  My doc said she could induce me if I wanted, due to the pain, but I'm hoping to avoid that and B is really against it.  But it's seriously agony...so please send major labor dust that I go into labor SOON so I don't have to go to work.

Thanks!

Re: Job vibes & labor dust needed

  • Ooooh lots of job and labor dust for you! That job sounds like it would be ideal, and the ice pick in the cervix sounds like the infamous lightening crotch...I hope it eases off soon!
  • Ouch, is it supposed to be that painful?? Regardless, I hope it stops soon and that your little girl will come soon! That 2-day position that just opened up sounds SO perfect, so lots of vibes your way for both the job and labor! Keep us posted!

  • if it's lightening crotch, i am sorry you are having it for 2 hrs! yikes! sending lots of job and labor dust your way!! (but also enjoy your last few days of having it "easy" taking care of baby and being able to sort of sleep when you want)

oh and check w/your ob to see if they are ok w/you trying nipple stimulation and if so, when you can do it... i swear that i went into labor within 24 hrs of doing that twice.

I guess it's lightning crotch to the extreme. Jaime, how long did you stimulate? I'm sure it's ok for me to try natural induction methods if she already offered to induce me otherwise. I tried a little the other night but obviously nothing yet.

  • Lots of labor and job vibes for you!  Good luck and try to rest before baby comes:-)

  • Lots and lots of job vibes to you.  I really hope you get the 2 day position because I know how much you don't want to go back full time!  2 days would be perfect!

I hope your killer lightening crotch goes away soon!  I tried accupuncture the Friday before I went into labour (I went into labour Sunday evening).  I'm not sure that's why I went into labour.  Good luck!  Any time now Big Smile

  • just a minute or two in the shower, that's what my ob suggested! i have to tell you that i felt absolutely ridiculous doing it and wasn't even sure if i was doing enough but i guess so! (apparently i'm really sensitive though b/c even MH pulling the blanket over to his side will cause the blanket to brush over my chest at night and stimulate let down even though I am wearing a nursing top!)

    GL!

  • Wow you must be sensitive cuz I read online 15 minutes an hour for several hours. I tried a bit and felt silly too. Plus it doesn't feel so good when you're all sensitive and stuff. I'm gonna keep trying though. Every night I go to bed hoping to wake up in labor!

  • Lots of job dust...sounds perfect!  And tons of labor dust...if you can avoid induction, especially an elective one, I'd recommend it.  As for "wasting" as week of leave...I felt the same way too until it actually happened and then I was SO grateful to have that week off!  It was worth it...and in retrospect I probably should have planned it that way to begin with...my body was sore and I was not sleeping well, therefore I was not fully functional at work anyway.
  • Good luck to you!  Hoping to meet your little girl very soon.  And that job would be awesome... hope it all works out!
