favorite no or low-VOC paints?
the only low voc paint i've ever used was sherwin williams, a few years ago.
lemme know what brand you used and how you liked it!
Re: favorite no or low-VOC paints?
I was pretty loyal to SW but then I found AFM and now SW is a distant memory. Their base and tints are no-VOC whereas SW's tins have VOC's. The smell was virtually nonexistant - I left the house right after I painted and I there was no paint smell at all when I came back home. Coverage was fantastic and I only needed one coat (except where at the ceiling where I cut in - I always need 2 or 3 coats because I suck at that part). The only negative so far is that the flat paint gets scuffed really easily. The eggshell is fine, though.
Tired after a long morning of hiking and swimming.
When we moved into our house last year, we painted every room with Dutch Boy Refresh paint and are very happy with it. I really wanted to do no VOC but we really couldn't afford $40 a gallon. The base of this paint is no VOC and then the tints that you add to it have VOC, so if you have a very light color it's almost no VOC. I think it was a good compromise for us and we're planning to buy it again to paint our upstairs once it is finished.

I use to work at the University of Southern Mississippi and a completely non-toxic, no VOC paint was developed there called mythtic. It is about $50 a gallon and you will probably have to mail order it, but it rocks!

We didn't want to mess with having it shipped so here we use Lowe's Olympic brand. Great color selection--a little dripy & it takes a couple of coats, very inexpensive at $22 a gallon.
Consumer Reports had rated Bejamin Moore and Tru Value the highest in their rating.
We got some Tru Value and DH hated it - I'm not sure if it was the paint or the room we painted it in not being primed well. It looks really nice, but he thought it aborbed in a lot. At least for once I didn't have a ton of paint left over! ha ha
somebody on EFF was saying that Ace stores carry Mythic but will be discontinuing it so it's cheaper now.
Just got the new Consumer Reports and they have updated reviews of Interior Paints in there and have lots of suggestions. Definitely check it out as they break it up by finish type. The data includes price, ratings on different areas, the VOC's, and in some cases where to get it.
Good luck!
