foodie ladies- any good recipes for short ribs?

I bought short ribs b/c they were on sale at Publix and super inexpensive... I just don't know what to do with them!!  I saw some recipes at foodnetwork, but i'd like some tried and true (and easy!) recipes for these things.  when i'm short for time, I don't like trying "new" recipes lol i'm afraid it's going to be terrible!!  anybody have any recipes they've tried and liked?

Re: foodie ladies- any good recipes for short ribs?

  • here is one that i love:

    HOME-STYLE SHORT RIBS
3-4 lbs. lean beef short ribs
    4 potatoes, peeled & quartered
    4 carrots, peeled & quartered
    1 onion, sliced
    2 tbsp. vinegar
    2 tsp. sugar
    1 tbsp. horseradish
    1 tbsp. prepared mustard
    2 tbsp. catsup
    1 c. beef bouillon
    1 tsp. salt
    1/4 tsp. pepper
    1/4 c. flour
In large skillet brown short ribs; drain off excess fat. Place potatoes, carrots and onion in crock pot or slow-cooking pot. Arrange browned ribs over vegetables. Combine vinegar, sugar, horseradish, mustard, catsup, bouillon, salt and pepper. Pour over meat. Cover and cook on low for 6 to 8 hours or until meat is tender.

Remove short ribs and vegetables. Turn crock pot to high or stove top burner to medium. Dissolve flour in small amount of water. Stir into sauce and cook for 10 to 15 minutes or until thickened. Serve with meat and vegetables. Makes 4 to 6 servings. Serve with burgundy or perhaps a lighter merlot.

  • My dad used to own a franchise of Tony Romas, but I don't know the recipe!! My dad has it.  Darn it. I'll ask him if it's easy.  I know the key is the delicious BBQ sauce.

I would post this on the  WC board tomorrow, you'll probably get quite a few replies.

Oh and as far as searching the Food Network's website, I usually go by chefs I trust.  I think almost anything Ina Garten makes is amazing.  But, for BBQ you can probably trust the Paula Deen, The Neelys or Bobby Flay too.  Just read the reviews of all the people that have made the recipe and search by the highest rated recipe as well. :)

  • oh my gosh...i have the best recipe but its one those long kind of complicated ones.  I can definitely say its worth it.  I felt like I was eating at a fancy restaurant..
