Visitor from Dallas

Hey Ladies,

A few friends and I are going to be coming down in March for a girls get-away. We're looking to stay near the Riverwalk area.

Any suggestions for decent hotels? I'd like to keep it under 160/night if possible since we're all nursing students on a budget.

Thanks!

Re: Visitor from Dallas

  • IMO, any hotels near the riverwalk area that are not actually on the riverwalk are going to be sketchy. You should be able to find a good hotel on the riverwalk for $160/night. I really loved Omni La Mansion Del Rio--we stayed there on our honeymoon. If you're looking for a more "hip" place, Hotel Valencia is very nice and they have "V Bar" inside the hotel which is a very cool spot to go for drinks downtown. HTH!

  • I'm a huge fan of Priceline for downtown SA.  I personally think that the hotels downtown are really overpriced BUT if you chose downtown and a four or 5 star hotel, you'll get something nice.  I used it and got a room at the Emily Morgan Hotel for $100 (including taxes) for my brother and his wife as a wedding gift..a friend of mine stayed at the same place for $350.  I've also used it and named a price of $75 and got a room at the Hotel Contessa which was beautiful!

If you haven't used Priceline before, be aware, once you name a price and pick an area and the star level you have to give a credit card and you are instantly told if a hotel accepted your offer and where you'll be staying.  You can't change or cancel the reservation.  That said, I still think its the best way to get a good deal and still stay at a nice place.
