For the super bowl!
I started thinking about it last week after the Saints won. (My family are Saints fans.) But I figured I'd just end up deciding it was too much trouble and not bother.
Then, I had the most fabulous time this weekend with my college friends. I mean, I haven't had that much fun in a LONG time (and really, we were just sitting around, drinking wine, shooting the ***. Not exactly partying like rock stars or anything).
It made me realize how isolated I am here. I have a few "local" friends, but they live in the western suburbs, while I live in the eastern suburbs, and it's just hard for either side to make a 45-minute trek for a dinner party or game night.
But the isolation has gone on too long. I just figured I'd say "Hey! We're having people over!" and see who comes. I will have some food but made it semi-potluck so I wouldn't have to stress about how much food/booze to get. The point is to have fun, right? Not stress about the menu. I'm using existing paper plates and cups, too, even though they are (sadly) not black and gold.
So, we'll see how my little experiment fares. There are certainly much better places for people to watch the super bowl (we still have an old 4:3 TV - it's big, but not high-def), and I'm sure some people have super bowl traditions where every year they do X. But I made it open invite - my work, DH's work, former colleagues, friends, firefighters, etc.
It's taking everything in me not to let my pessimistic "no one will come" side show.
Re: I'm havinga party! (long)
Ditto, Nola. Some people just don't make SB plans, so they jump at whatever comes up. I'm hoping we can do something, but my hopes aren't terribly high.
I just a friendly gal looking for options.
