Read any good books lately?

Hey ladies!  I just finished reading The Help (it was good in case you're wondering but not the best book I've ever read) and I need something new!  Have you read anything great lately??

That was an awesome book!! You can look in my blog and search under "I read books" to see what I've read recently. It's been a while, though. :(

  • I recently bought Sue Grafton's "U is for Undertow" but haven't read it yet. I LOVE her alphabet series! I would have read it by now if I didn't have reading to do for school. If you like mysteries I definitely recommend her :)

  • I don't know if any of my books would interest anyone. I'm sort of eclectic in my reading. I'm mostly reading fantasy fiction/science fiction. I'm currently reading book 12 of the Wheel of Time series by Robert Jordan. I also have been reading the Noble Dead series by Barb and JC Hendee. I've read just about everything you can imagine in these genres but I haven't read any new mystery novels since I got totally into Agatha Christie when I was 8 or 9. I love the classic authors as well...such as Poe. I'm also a huge Anne Rice and Anne McCaffery fan. :)
  • I'm actually reading the Wheel of Time series right now too! I'm on book 6 (Lord of Chaos) right now and still loving the series.

You've probably already heard of the Song of Ice and Fire series, but if not I'd highly recommend them since you're into sci fi. I'd recommend them to everyone else too if you're looking for something a little different than your average NY Times Bestseller book. They're extremely well written and I thought they were very captivating. They can get a little complex/confusing with all of the characters, but that's what wikipedia is for. ;o)

I don't have that much time to read while I'm in school so I can't say I've got a long list to choose from for recommendations. And before I got into the sci-fi/fantasy I was just reading mostly classics (Jane Austen, Dostoevsky) or a random medical novel. I did try out Pride and Prejudice and Zombies and didn't really like it. It wasn't different enough from the original story to be interesting on it's own (I just kept thinking how much I love the actual story).

Now I want to go over to Half Price Books and browse for new books to read. :o)

  • Linz I've been totally into Wheel of Time for about a year and a half now. I completely reread the series before getting book 12. I got it from Half Price Books for $7! That is a hard cover $30 book! I've heard of but haven't read the Song of Fire and Ice series. I have read a great deal of Mercedes Lackey recently ... well in the last year and a half or so. I write fantasy fiction/vampire fiction personally. I'm in school right now too, taking organic and biochemistry, so I hear you. I read when I get a chance. :) I found a TON of books at Half Price the other day and bought 3 new books in the last week and a half. :)
  • I just finished reading the Help.. Loved it. For a quick fun read, I also just finished The Nanny Returns (sequel to The Nanny Diaries). Fun book!
  • On our honeymoon I read Something Borrowed and Something Blue.  Totally fun reads, perfect for a newlywed!
