I was really hoping the national boards were going to avoid the new format....i'm just not a girl that takes well to change
your thoughts?

Hmmm. This is my first post in the new format, so... I don't know how it's going to work. So far, though, it looks more functional to me (since I have a Mac, I often miss out of the regular features like underline and italics without coding it myself).
I like the way the page is laid out and think the stats for how many views, and who last replied is fun. Also, having the link for the next and previous posts is nice.
On the other hand, I don't like the auto spacing on the paragraphs, nor the cubed pofile photo - which apparently gets distorted. What's the deal with the "points"? Did the Nest clear all our stats after this round of new formatting? I can't imagine Brit has only posted 24 times since October! Frustrating!!
I agree with leapgirl... I'd much rather see the themed links on the left.
The preview feature is cool. Ooooh, so much to explore....
This is bizarre to me. I know I haven't posted in a while, but the system is calling me a newbie when I've been around since 2005! I'm not sure I like this change at all.

I just noticed the post count, points and Joined On. I guess it goes from when we first posted on the nest? Because I was on the Knot loooong before October 2007. Points?? Huh?
And we're all labeled "Newbie" - ha!

Elise - well it's Monday morning and I'm just back from vacation... I guess that explains why I missed that small detail! haha! I was completely forgetting that I created a new account!
After using it a little, I don't think I mind the new format. I fixed my siggy this morning - it's nice that it's more like rich text (I didn't need "center" or "br" to get things on separate lines and center them), but I bet that means back on the knot boards with the old format, our siggy's will look different, which is kind of odd.
And I changed my pic so that I don't have to look at my smooshed face anymore :-)

I'm not a huge fan of the new format, but I suppose it will annoy me less over time. I actually stopped posting on my local board because I didn't like the new format. It seems "messy" to me.
Oh well. At least they have fixed it so you can choose the order of posts. It was so aggravating before when the only option was the "bump" option. Even though I am very used to seeing that on other chat boards, it just didn't seem like a good fit for the nest boards, given the nature of our content/discussions.

I like and don't like the "views" thing. For example, I looked at this post yesterday as I was trying to leave work (had to come in on Sunday to get some stuff done). I didn't really have time to respond, but once I saw it tick up to one view, I felt like I really *should* respond (because you would have seen someone had looked at your post but not responded). So I clicked back into the post to respond, realized I really, truly didn't have time and also that I shouldn't let a "views" marker guilt me in to posting if I didn't have time to, and clicked back out... leaving you with 2 views and no responses.
Being guilted by a chat board? I need to get out more.... LOL.

Not a fan at all... I think the old format was much nicer looking and easier to read. Plus I think it makes it harder to tell who each reply is from... just at a glance.
And I don't like the edit button, if only because then trolls can go back and change what they write to make others look bad.
