Any suggestions?

I like taking wraps for lunch but my problem is in how I store them!  As I eat lunch in the car most days, I can only have one hand on my wrap!  I close it up in tinfoil and slowly peel it away so it holds the wrap in place as I eat.  But I hate wasting foil!  I can't reuse it as I have to peel it away.  I do recycle it when I get home...any suggestions or is this a lost cause?

  • Wrapped in a cloth napkin or dish towel? I would try it.
  • WasteNotSaks on Etsy makes a sandwich/wrap reusable wrap. She doesn't have any up now, but you could convo her to get an idea of what they look like and have her make one for you if it is a fit.

  • I agree with pp, and maybe put the wrap in a reusable storage container to keep it fresh. I get that you want to peel it away, but maybe you could fold the cloth down as you munch.

I hate that you have to eat that way anyway! Is there anyway to fit 10 minutes into your afternoon to stop and take a break?

  • What if you made or had someone make you a cloth wrap with velcro along the sides.  I'm picturing it as a rectangular piece of fabric with velcro on the long sides.  You could wrap the wrap, velcro it so it's tight against the wrap and then "peel" the velcro away as you're eating.  If you got wider velcro, it would be more adjustable for thick vs. thin wraps.  Does this make sense at all or am I doing a horrible job at explaining?

Tired after a long morning of hiking and swimming.
  • Otherwise you could do butcher/kraft paper like you get at a sandwich shop. As long as its not wax-coated, it should be compostable, although that's something I'd put in my city compost rather than my own as it probably takes longer to biodegrade.

So...that wasn't the most helpful suggestion, was it?? lol

  • Ohhhh great ideas ladies!  I will definitely have to look into these things.

Jenny I totally get what you're saying with the velcro.

Jpeazy - I am an early intervention occupational therapist so I travel from home to home to see my kiddos!  Unfortunately I'm rarely at the office during lunch so I just eat in the car.  Trust me, I don't enjoy it either...I miss taking salads and soups for lunch, among other things.  It limits my options!
