Taylor Swift - flame away

Maybe its just me, but I dont think she's as talented as people are giving her credit for... Fearless for Album of the Year at the Grammys was infuriating, especially that she was up aginst an amazing Beyonce album, and a super amazing DMB album (their best in years)...

 All of her songs are almost exactly the same  - " Hi, how many times are you going to reference a fairytale in one of your songs" (Today was a fairytale, White Horse, Love Story)... and while catchy and cute (I sing them in my car), they sound like an immature 15 year old wrote them! (yes I know she is like 16 and writes her own songs - but thats my point)

 So okay, vent over.. flame away if you must....

I really like her, have even seen her in concert, but I can see where people get tired of her and say she is over-rated. I was extremely surprised she won albumof the year, I am not too much of a fan of the others, but one of them probably should have won.

I like Taylor Swift also,but also think she definitely shouldn't have won album of the year should of went to beyonce or one of the other nominees,and i think her performance at the grammys wasn't very good either.

I saw her in concert before she really hit it big.  She was the opening act then and not the headliner.  I think she was better THEN than she is now.  I wouldn't go to see her now.  I think she's become cookie cutter, same tune different words.  Everything sounds the same and while I like her music, it doesn't vary much.  The other artists up for album of the year had more variation in their music and were more suitable for the award IMO.

And seriously, how much heart break can a 17 year old have gone through and does she really know about love?

I agree with you 100%.  I do like her and her music, but winning a Grammy for Album of the Year?  No way.

I really like her but I do think there were others in the category that were just as good, if not a bit better. I do think that many times some grammy winners are chosen to help promote new styles of music (she has really brought country pop up) rather than who is "best". I honestly really don't love Beyonce's album...I think she tries too hard. Like her older stuff best.

To me, Taylor Swift is more pop than country and Twain was more country than pop, if that makes sense.

Not to mention, most of the kids that listen to Swift today really don't know who Shania Twain is. IMO, they're trying to stay relevant.

I think TS is a great songwriter and works with a good producing team.  That said, she can't sing for her life.  Even her recorded songs sound shaky and breathy. 

Album of the Year is about the whole album, correct?  Swift had easily 6 or 7 singles off of her album get tons of radio play, which is why I think she won.  Beyonce had Single Ladies, Halo, If I were a Boy... and I can't even name a single off of the DMB album.

I think she sucked - sorry.  I'm not a country fan at all, but I didn't see an ounce of talent the other night. I felt badly for Stevie Nicks having her song butchered by TS - she was just flat and out of tune. I turn her off when the radio says it's her. If she can write then stick to it - but quit the singing or get some lessons. Oh, and stop with the "OMG, you really just called my name" hand to chest and mouth. It's old.

I used to be a fan of TS, but now I honestly cant stand her.  I totally agree that she has no actual vocal talent.  In fact, I think the more popular she gets, the worse she sings!!  "Tim McGraw" was actually a good song and she sounded decent, but recently YIKES!  I didnt watch the Grammys, but its said when fan favorites win over people who actually deserve it.

While I think she is quite a talented songwriter, especially at such a young age, she is a terrible singer.  She has sound awful everytime I have heard her on live TV.  I was surprised she won album of the year.

Totally think she is super talented at such a young age.

However....she sings about heartache all.the.time. I was a teenager once, really I was and although my horomones were crazy and I felt that being in high school was never going to end....she just goes on and on and on song after song about a stupid guy liking another guy. Really? I got the point after the first song....didn't need another 10 songs with the musical tune and the same message.

Also...if she thinks teenage love is hard....hahaha wait until you get older sweetie. It only gets harder and I don't want to hear about your divorce. Thanks.

I was bummed.  DMB had a really, really good album this year.  Was Lady Gaga up for this category, too?  I haven't heard all of LG's stuff, and I know she looks like a wackadoo, but he's damn talented. I liked her duet with Elton John.

IMO, yes. But I give credit to Dolly Parton for being the best cross over artist. Dolly has 77 records on the country charts 43 which have also been on the pop charts. It will take a long long time and much more talent for either Shania or Taylor to have the success in both the country and pop worlds that Dolly has had.
