Hey there fellow New Yorkers!
DH and I are thinking of buying an apartment in Park Slope-- we've heard good things about it, and mostly, it apparently has a good public school (yey free education!) Anyone live there? Have friends who live there? What's it like? Is it still very hipster or more yuppified? Do people commute into the city? Which parts are good/bad? Where do you go for groceries, coffee shops, etc? Any info would be great...... and of course, if you know of an apt for sale, definitely let me know!
TIA

Hi!
We also live in Park Slope - and really really really love it! haha. The schools are great - just research them ahead of time because different parts of the neighborhood are zoned for different public schools (which also makes some sections of park slope higher priced). It is very family oriented, but also fine for just couples. Great restaurants, shops, community activities and feeling. We know a lot of our neighbors, have met (now friends) people in the neighborhood through our dog or just seeing them frequently. There are quite a few grocery options - plus everyone has their favorite coffee shop (which are definitely plenty and seemingly on every corner). Our commute to work is about 30min to union square area and 45min to midtown.
Check out trulia.com for places to buy - its one of my favorite sites to "browse". DH and I have actually changed our mind about moving out of the city in a few years to instead saving up to buy a place in this neighborhood. We really love the neighborhood. Definitely let us know if you have any other questions. If you do decide to move and buy a place here - check out parkslopeparents.com. They have an online classified group that also sometimes has apartment sale listings.
We used to live in Clinton Hills before we relocated..Park Slope is cool I like this area alot as well. Happy searching!
