Those are good friends to have!

A couple weeks ago a co-worker's BFF found out he has pancreatic cancer. It's advanced and even with treatment the dr's aren't giving the best chances of survival. He is starting treatment (some experimental) to at least give it a shot. (He's about 50 y/o.)

CW's parents have owned a restaurant in the area for years. CW and some friends got together and are planning a benefit. 2 people are donating enough food for 500 people. The tickets are $200 (for 2 people.) They will have a band, food, etc.

A lot of these people are a pretty tight-knit group and can afford that/may donate more. I have no doubt they can sell 250 sets of tickets.

250 sets @ $200.00 = $50k

They are doing a raffle and the grand prize is $15k!

So if all goes as planned the guy will receive $33,000. (give or take)

(He has insurance, but it won't cover 100%. ONE of the experimental pills is $4000.00 each.)

  • That is pretty cool. Too bad they can't give him the whole 50k though.

  • True. I'm not in on the planning, only the one CW and a few of their other friends.

If I won, I would probably donate it back to the guest of honor.

Depending on who wins, it may happen. It would be hard to give up 15k, but if it could save a life, some people would.
