I don't post very often, but happened to read your post about your situation. DH and I were in the same exact boat this past August. We have been long distance for about 2 years now. He was in the Philadelphia area when we met and had been accepted to a new PhD program in which he was following his advisor shortly after we started dating. I am a teacher and had applied for jobs in CT throughout the years but got nothing. I spent this past summer after the wedding with him and applied for jobs, but unfortunately again there was nothing.
Since he is finishing up this coming summer (hopefully), we were in a similar position, having me walk away from a job that I loved at a school where I love for him to possibly be back in my area (NJ/Phila.) when he is finished. There were other factors as well... financial, it was my tenure year, etc. but we decided it was best for us. Again, he is in CT and I in NJ so your hike would be much greater than mine, but as horrible as it seems, the year is flying and my thinking has been it could be a lot worse.I do miss him like crazy during the week, but it makes our time together even more special. Remember there is also skype, which we love to use! Good luck with your decision, just wanted to shed some light since I was in the same boat!
Re: **chrissy**
Thanks Krissy! It really is nice to hear that there are other couples who've done/are doing the same thing and made it through. I finally got to talk to my hubby last night and we made our final decision that I would stay here while he heads to the east coast. It'll be tough to be apart, I'm sure, but I'm excited about living by myself for the very first time and about all of the opportunities I'll have for personal growth and exploration. Plus, I have my two dogs so I won't be THAT lonely!
I can't believe you've been long distance for 2 years!! What an amazing bond the two of you must share.
